The Indonesian Quarantine Agency or abbreviated as Barantin is an Indonesian government agency that facilitates the quarantine process of animals, plants and fish for every commodity leaving or entering Indonesia. As a newly restructured government agency, Barantin needs a public service website so that exporters or importers understand the regulations and can register for quarantine.
The Brief
In the early stages, my team and I held a meeting to understand what information needed to be displayed on the Barantin website page. In addition, we also tried to understand the business processes in it, so that the information structure would be more informative and easily accessible to the public later.
This project not only created the website, but we also created a Content Management System (CMS) so that management by the communications division would be easier for Barantin.
Solution
From the results of the interview and desk research, I finally got a design iteration for the Barantin website, where I divided the navigation and portal into several parts for Barantin's digital information system and also the standardization of the Indonesian government website.
We also divided 3 portal accesses for the Animal, Plant and Fisheries Quarantine Agencies so that they are easily accessible by the public who want to use quarantine services from the Indonesian Quarantine Agency.
Lesson learned
As a creative worker, I realize that communicating with the Indonesian government is a challenge in itself. In this project, I learned a lot about how to understand the complicated processes in the government, but did not neglect the education of the members of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency involved in this project.
Therefore, I also conducted training on the use of the Content Management System for all Indonesian Quarantine Agencies throughout Indonesia.
